Finger Nails

So here's my dilema. I hate cutting my fingernails. I have a fear of nail files. They remind me of nails on a chalkboard. However, my nails get pretty weak as they get longer, so I can't keep them long. Besides, have you ever tried putting in your contacts with long nails? It's hard to take then out as well. If you're a guy, this is not a huge issue, but girls like their nails to look nice, but since I obviously am pretty lax in my nail care (I only wear clear nail polish on my nails, it looks more natural and a little bit classier, not to diss those girls who wear other colors), and maybe paint my nails once a month, it's not a huge deal. However, my nails get chipped and cracked with the kind of sanitation engineering I'm involved with. I just thought I'd throw that out there for anybody who may have any suggestions.
